Obituary of Joanne June Gunther
Joanne June Gunther, age 80, of Flushing passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018. The funeral will take place 11:00 am, Friday, August 17, 2018, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Joanne's family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Joanne was born in Flint, Michigan, on December 2, 1937, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvin and Lucille (Richards) Sheick. She met and married the love of her life, Charles Gunther on July 2, 1955, in Flint. Sadly, he preceded her in death on August 27, 2013. Joanne was the office manager for Roy Little & Son's in Genesee County for 12 years, retiring in 2002. In her free time, Joanne loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a master gardener, lapidarian, and volunteered her time at Crossroads Village. Joanne also enjoyed antiquing, and basket weaving. She was known for being a wonderful cook and excellent pie baking.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Chris and wife, Ruth Gunther, Nola Little, and Carrie and husband, Tim O'Dell; grandchildren: Brandon and wife, Megan Little, Ryan and wife Sarah Gunther, Sarah and husband, Azhr Misbah, Garret and wife Kristen Little, Brittney and husband Danny Saultman, Leslie and husband Gary King, Kathryn and husband Billy Smith, and Shelly O'Dell; eight great-grandchildren; six siblings: Marla and husband, Glenn Thurman, Lissa and husband Bob Conway, Debbie Sheick, Cindy Sheick, Johnny Sheick, and Thomas and wife Janice Sheick; special friend, Kathy Kallas; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, two sisters: Carolyn and Judy, four brothers: Dallas, Ronnie, Stanley, and Tyrone.
