Obituary of Bonnie Lou Schmitt
Bonnie Lou (Austin) Schmitt, age 68, of Fairgrove, died Friday, August 3, 2018, at Bay County Medical Care Facility. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Fairgrove. Pastor Craig Clark will officiate with burial to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Bonnie’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home, on Monday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm the and again on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
Bonnie was born on September 1, 1949, in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Norman and Rose (Griesmayer) Austin. She graduated from Unionville High School with the class of 1967. Bonnie and Milton Schmitt were united in marriage in 1968. Sadly, Milton preceded her in death on December 5, 2010. She worked for Heartland Home Healthcare for 19 years as a nurses aide. In her free time; Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her family, bingo and casino nights, arts and crafts, and listening to audiobooks.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Melissa Sommerfield, Milton Schmitt Jr. and fiancee, Jennifer Hutchinson, and Michael Schmitt; four grandchildren: Sarah Sommerfield, Travis Sommerfield, Leslie Hutchinson and Megan Hutchinson; three siblings: Sue Austin, Larry and wife, Robin Austin, and Carol Fritz; and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Schmitt, parents, Norman and Rose Austin, and one brother, Jerry Austin.
