Obituary of Robert Witucki

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bob Witucki, age 75, died Friday, July 20, 2018, peacefully at his home after a tough battle with cancer. A celebration of life will be held at his son Tim’s home on Friday, July 27, 2018, beginning at 4:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church, located in Grand Blanc, at 10:30 am, Father Joe Krupp, officiating. Bob’s family will be present to receive friends and family on Saturday from 9:30 am until time of service at 10:30 am.

Bob was born in Flint, on May 16, 1943. The son of Ruth (Nelson) Witucki and Edward S. Witucki, Sr. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Jan Phelps Witucki. They were married on August 21, 1965, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and together they raised three beautiful children; Timothy Robert (Janice) Witucki, Traci (Greg) Snyder, and Joshua Michael (Kristy) Witucki. In addition, Bob was a wonderful grandfather, otherwise known as “Pa,” to his nine grandchildren: Ryan Witucki, Autumn Witucki, Gracie Snyder, Carson Snyder, Jackson Witucki, Chloie Snyder, Olivia Snyder, Lily Witucki, and Sammie Witucki. Bob is also survived by his two brothers: Edward “Ed” (Loraine) Witucki, William “Bill” Witucki, and sister-in-law, Sharon Blaine.

Bob was a 1961 graduate of Holy Redeemer and attended General Motors Institute of Technology. He was a Vietnam War veteran, worked at Ludington News Company for 32 years before retiring, and shortly thereafter began working for his son at Tim’s Lawn Care and Snowplowing, Inc. Bob was a talented athlete, loved playing and watching all sports - especially his grandkids at their sporting events, and excelled at practically everything he did. One of Bob’s favorite places was Daytona Beach, Florida, where he was a ruthless opponent on the courts, both basketball and shuffleboard, and spent countless hours in the hot tub relaxing with a cigar in mouth and beer in hand. Bob also enjoyed spending time with his family at Tim’s place on Lake Charlevoix. Bob and his family enjoyed pizza at Luigi’s every Friday night. Bob had a very special connection with each of his children. His handiness was passed down to Tim; the two spent endless amounts of time together building Tim’s current home, and later his cabin up north. He loved all the walks and unforgettable talks with his only daughter Traci. Despite the challenges that came with growing children and busy schedules, Bob always made room for Traci and her family in his car to drive to Florida every year for spring break. His youngest son, Josh, inherited his love of all sports and you could regularly find Bob with him on the golf course. Bob was a master at euchre, he was always playing cribbage with his friends and Josh, and you could find him every Thursday at the Arrowhead Vets Club playing Euchre. To relax at home, he would sit in the garage doing expert level sudoku puzzles and completing the crossword in the newspaper. Bob was fortunate to have his wonderful, loving wife Jan, his devoted family, and his supportive friends by his side through his hard-fought battle with cancer. He had the firmest handshake, a heart of gold, beautiful sparkling blue eyes, and a wonderful smile.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Edward Witucki, Sr., mother-in-law and father-in-law Mildred and Ned Phelps, sister-in-law Marilyn Witucki, and niece Dawn Cole.

Please no flowers or plants, contributions are welcomed by the Witucki family. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. #WituckiTough.
