Henry was born June 22, 1937, in Saginaw, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Yanacio and Mary (Sauceda) Acevedo. He and Delores Enciso were united in marriage on December 3, 1955. Henry worked as a union representative in the automotive and healthcare industries for many years until his retirement. In his free time, Henry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; especially his grandchildren. He was also very active at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. In his free time, he also enjoyed playing football and basketball with his family at Hoyt Park. Henry was known as an activist for the Spanish community. He was a leader in the labor movement, and fought for social justice, equality, respect, and lead his life with integrity. The irony to be a leader negotiating wages and working conditions and setting the bar for nursing home and hospital workers one-day needing assistance in life puts life in perspective. He loved his family and friends if you were a part of that circle you were blessed to know him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Daniel and wife, Kerrie, Dennis, Diana and significant other, Jerry, and Renee; grandchildren: Dan Davis, Chazz Acevedo, Trevor Acevedo, Dillion Childs, Shyanne Acevedo, Jolene Asevedo, Shannon and husband, Sam Moreno, Margie and husband, Art Swearengen, Jennifer and husband, Johnathan Tatupu, Nikki and husband, Leeroy Duarte, Samantha and husband, Daniel Steiger, and Skylynn and husband, Daniel Murillo; seventeen great-grandchildren; siblings: Joe and wife, Nancy Acevedo, David and wife, Dolores Acevedo, Trudy Acevedo, Tony and wife, Diana Acevedo, and Angela and husband, Felimon Jimenez.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Michael Theodore Acevedo; grandson: Mikey Asevedo, his son-in-law, Thomas Myers; his brother, Peter Acevedo; and sister, Caroline Barajas.
