Obituary of Douglas F. Rose, Jr.
Douglas F. "Sarg" Rose, Jr., age 60, of Flint, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at his home. The funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, July 9, 2018, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Doug’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Monday, from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Doug's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Doug was born in Flint, on December 11, 1957, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Frank M. and Patricia Ann (Thorpe) Rose. He attended Beecher High School, graduating with the class of 1976. He proudly served in the United States National Guard for 14-years before earning his honorable discharge. He worked production for General Motors for many years until retiring on January 1, 2009. He was a long-time member of UAW local #598. In his free time, Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and watching tv. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and bowling. He was a member of Calvary Community Church in Flint.
Doug is survived by his children: son, Austin Rose, daughter, Keeley Rose; two brothers: David Rose, and Daniel Rose; two sisters: Sharon and husband, Larry Roth, Laura Gerow; several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Patrick Murray; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sue Meyers.
