I was Matt's English 111 teacher this semester at UM-Flint. I was impressed by the contributions he made. I wish I could have gotten to know him more. My deepest sympathies are with the family as you face this unspeakable, heartbreaking grief.

I am extremely sorry for the loss your family have endured. I was a classmate of Matt's and would have liked to have gotten to know him on a more personal level. I will always remember the interesting additions he would make to our Philosophy of Religion course, and the fun conversations that we shared. I'm glad to have known him, even for that short period. \

I was Matt's sociology instructor at U of M. During the short time I knew Matt, I was impressed by contributions to the class - his insightful questions, his enthusiasm early in the morning, that look in his eyes when made comments about the readings calculated to question the very nature of the universe and human existence! He was a dream student - the kind most of us hope to find in a college class but so rarely do - thoughtful, questioning, with a great sense of humor and an enthusiasm to learn. I will miss him, and the university will be a much poorer place with his absence.

Mike, It was a privilege for me to substitute in classes where Matt and you were students. Matt was a fun, day-brightening student. You are also a young man who enlivened many classes in which I subbed. Please know that I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers for Matt's loss. Know that God will be by your side and see you through this time of grief. Matt will truly be missed by all who knew him. Mrs. Thompson

It is with the deepest sadness that we offer our condolences on the loss of Matt. Thank you, Mark and Donna, for allowing us the privilege of having Matt as part of our family from a young age. Matt and Mike were like a one two punch that stole our hearts as little boys with ready grins and mishcievous glints in ther eyes and to our joy, they remained in our lives throught the years since. Matt enriched our lives with his sense of humor, his insight and intelligence, and his loyalty and affection for us. We loved him, we will miss him and will hold him in our thoughts and prayers forever. \

Our prayers go out to our cousin Courtney and all of Matts family and friends. Matt was such an awesome person. He loved to come over and play with our kids and they LOVE him so much. He would always do whatever made them happy. I remember coming home one day and he was pretending that the laundry basket was a plane and he was flying them around the living room. My daughter Jenna still ask me to fly her like "Matt does". He will be so greatly missed. We love you and always will Matt. Our heart aches and we miss you.
