Obituary of Neil Gordon Woodring

Of Mt. Morris, age 80, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at St. MaryAaas of Michigan in Saginaw. The funeral service will take place 11:00am on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris with cremation to follow. NeilAaas family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
Neil was born June 13, 1928 in Flint, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lyle and Josephine Woodring. He and Barbara Brinch were united in marriage on May 16, 1953. He was on the swim team in high school and also while he was in the Army during World War II. Neil was a member of the Houghton Lake EagleAaas Post #4308 and the Houghton Lake American Legion #245. Neil graduated from Ferris State University in 1953, where he was Fraternity Vice President of Sigma Alpha Delta and then went on to teach at Baker College and also taught math at Hamady Jr. High for thirty years. He was also a tax accountant for over thirty years. During the summers in his younger years, Neil worked as a carriage driver on Mackinaw Island and later worked for the Genesee County Drain Commission in the summers.
Neil leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Barbara; children, Mike and wife Vicky Woodring, Deborah and husband Joe Leatherwood, David and wife Kathy Woodring, Doug and wife Becky Woodring, Nancy and husband David Gorzenski, Steven and wife Rhonda Woodring, Scott and wife Cheryl Woodring and Stacey and husband Kent Wade; twenty six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Paul and wife Lisa (Brinch) Woodring; brothers and sisters-in law, Jorgen and wife Janet Brinch, Ken and wife Jan Brinch; special cousin, Helen and husband Ron Martin; many loving nieces and nephews and his dog and cat, Suzie and Snow.
