Obituary of J. Helen McConnell

Of Flint, age 93, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Genesys Convalescent Center in Grand Blanc. The funeral service will take place 12:00 noon Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Galbraith will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. HelenAaas family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00am until 2:00pm and 4:00pm until 8:00pm, and again on Wednesday from 11:00am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the AlzheimerAaas Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Helen was born July 1, 1915 in Saskatchewan, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Era (Soule) Thrower. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School and later worked at Ternstedt for 26 years, retiring in 1974. In HelenAaas free time, she enjoyed bowling. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Daniel McConnell and his friend Monika, Gerald and wife Beverly McConnell and Carol and husband Donald Robinson; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and sisters; Velma Fisher, Rosalee and husband Norman Nord, Lorna Colvin and Prudence Deal. Helen is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Strother; sister, Mary Heron and friend, Chester Schriber.
