Obituary of Harold J. Franko

Age 85, of Vassar, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. The funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church with Father Richard Jozwiak officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 2, 2014, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a scripture reading at 7:00 pm by Sister Ellen Rinke. On Saturday, Harold will be taken to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Harold was born June 23, 1928, in Vassar, Michigan, the son of Steven and Anna (Korn) Franko. He graduated from Vassar High school in 1947. He met his wife, Sara Madigan in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and they were united in marriage on October 4, 1952. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for one year. Harold worked as a Supervisor for Eaton Manufacturing for over 30 years. In his free time he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Sara; sons, Steve and wife, Lynn Franko, Tim and wife, Jody Franko, Greg and wife, Sally Franko, Terry and wife, Natalie Franko and Pat Franko; grandchildren, Matthew and wife, Rachel Franko, Megan Franko, Lindsay Franko, Lauren Franko, Dominic Franko, Madigan Franko, Jacqueline Franko and Drew Franko; sister, Ann Baranski; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alex, Mike and Bernard; and sister, Mary.
