Obituary of Genevieve Margaret Decoster
Genevieve DeCoster, age 94, a lifelong resident of Fairgrove, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 11:00 am at Wisner United Methodist Church in Wisner Twp. Pastor Evan Oh will officiate with burial to follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City. The family will receive friends Monday, at Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. On Tuesday, Genevieve’s family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Wisner United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or church.
Genevieve was born March 29, 1924, in Fairgrove, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William and Celia (Franckowiak) Dinsmoore. She and Nicholas DeCoster were united in marriage on March 16, 1945, in Gilford. In her free time, Genevieve enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, and working on the farm. She enjoyed going for car rides and looking at crops. Genevieve was a wonderful cook and baker and was well known for her pork chops, baked beans, and pie recipes. She also enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of trips up north, Colorado, and Florida.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Sidney (Diane) DeCoster, Agnes (Michael) Krause, Denise (Robert) Stockmeyer, and Donna (Wallace) Hauswald; nine grandchildren: Roger (Carmita) DeCoster, Michelle (Edgar) Rubalcaba, Dirk (Debbi) DeCoster, Janelle (Omar) Castillo, Jacob (Meagan) Stockmeyer, Lucas (Amanda) Stockmeyer, Chelsea Stockmeyer, Justine Stockmeyer, and Luc Hauswald; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother Stanley (Evelyn) Dinsmoore; and special friends Maxine Vagaski and Dorothy Findlay
She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas DeCoster, parents, and siblings Kenneth, Harvey, and Lester Dinsmoore.
