Obituary of William "Bill" James George
William "Bill" James George, 91 years, of Clio, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, March 24, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, Fr. Bill Wegher and Fr. Francis Faraci con-celebrating, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Bill's family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Friday, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm; then again from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm; Friday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. On Saturday morning, Bill will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic School or to The Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Bill was born on Wednesday, April 21, 1926, in Detroit, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Antonio and Angela (Iafrate) Giorgi. Shortly after graduating high school in Detroit, Bill would join the United States Navy until receiving his honorable discharge. He married Dolores Bracken on August 2, 1947, in Detroit. Sadly, she preceded him in death on April 20, 2015. He worked at General Motors for over 30 years before retiring. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council #4285 in Mt. Morris. He taught junior high basketball at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris for over 30 years. In his free time, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, card games and completing word searches.
Left to cherish his memory are four children, Dan (Susan) George, Lynn (Larry) Neuberg, Kathee (Bob) Gensheimer, and Michael (Kyle Hawkins) George; five grandchildren: Jeffrey (Kate) George, Matthew (Kellie) George, Christine (Loren Rosenberg) George, Stacy Gensheimer, and Isabella Neuberg; four great-grandchildren: Anna, Allie, Ella, and Amelia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dolores, two sisters: Tomassina, and Gina, and his brother Albert.
