Obituary of James "Jim" La Freniere
James “Jim” La Freniere, age 59, of Millington, died Monday, March 12, 2018. A Celebration of Jim’s life will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Jim’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Friday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm, and on Saturday morning, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
Jim was born December 20, 1958, in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rene and Eileen (Burbank) La Freniere. Educated locally, Jim graduated from EAJ High School in Mt. Morris, with the class of 1977. He married the love of his life Carol Ann Lytle in Flint, on August 14, 1984. Sadly, she preceded him in death on February 5, 2009. Jim worked for General Motors for over 30 years, in skilled trades, and was a long-time member of UAW Local #599. In his free time, Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time in Northern Michigan at the family cabin, boating, and listening to classic rock.
Left to cherish his memory two daughters: Elizabeth (Bradley) Stevens, and Dawn (Matthew) Laude; six grandchildren: Abbie, Destiny, Christine, Noah, EJ, and Natalie; six siblings: Rene (Beth) La Freniere, Stephanie (Jeffry) Hagenstein, Joel (Lynne) La Freniere, Mary (Thomas) Severn, John (Jill) La Freniere, and Matthew (Tammy) La Freniere; and many other family members and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol Ann, daughter Amiee Lynne, and his father-in-law Donald “Keith” Lytle.
