Obituary of Veronica Lee Burns
Veronica Lee Burns, age 64, of Burton, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at her home. A Celebration of Veronica's life will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris; with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Veronica's family will be present at the funeral home on Monday to receive friends from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the University of Michigan ALS Clinic. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Veronica was born on Tuesday, September 1, 1953, in Flint, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Beverly (McCarthy) Scriven. Educated locally, Veronica graduated from Beecher High School. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Thermon Burns in Flint, on December 7, 1971. She worked as a clerk for Rite-Aid in Burton for many years, retiring in 2006. In her free time, Veronica loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, bingo, and watching Christmas movies. Veronica was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers.
Left to cherish her memory, husband, Thermon Burns; son, Tracy and wife, Dawn Burns; two grandsons: Justin Burns, and Cody Burns and fiancée, Lacey; her mother, Beverly Scriven; three sisters: Pam and husband, Walter Thompson, Peggy and husband, Martin Sweet, and Rosemary Amidon; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Veronica was preceded in death by her father, William Scriven.
