Obituary of David "Dave" Alan Aplin
David “Dave” Aplin, age 60, of Burton, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Dale Lewis officiating with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Dave’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Saturday morning, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 noon.
Dave was born July 22, 1957, in Flint, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron and Marilyn (Sloat) Aplin. Dave was educated locally, graduating from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School in Mt. Morris, with the class of 1975. Shortly after graduating, Dave would enlist in the United States Navy, until receiving his honorable discharge. He married Deborah Simmons on December 27, 1999, in Burton. He worked on the production line for General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 2010. He was a long-time member of UAW Local #598 and a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #629 in Flint. In his free time, Dave enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, bowling, and golfing. He also enjoyed playing online video games, and Keno.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 18 years Deborah; two daughters: Kristalyn and husband, Joshua Groce, and Amanda and husband, Arvelle Wilson; three stepchildren: Anthony “Tony” Martin, Jamie Leach, and Scott and wife, Angella Martin; three brothers: Jeffrey Aplin, Christopher and wife, Sarah Aplin, and Michael Aplin; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
