Obituary of Vera G. Soper

Of Flint, age 79, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 2pm Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Elder Todd Ervin will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday 4-9pm and Wednesday 10am until time of service at 2pm. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the Family Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Vera was born July 6, 1929 in Houghton Lake, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Ida (Apps) Benson. Vera was a graduate of St. Louis High School. She and Harold Soper were united in marriage August 22, 1992. She retired from General Motors V8 Plant after 28 years of service. Vera enjoyed gardening, crocheting, deer hunting, sewing, fishing, photography, being out of doors and reading. Surviving are her husand, Harold Soper of Flint; Children, Terrie and husband Edward Soper of Montrose, Donald and wife Belinda Huntley of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Michael and wife Debra Huntley of Beulah, Vickie and husband Ken Scott of Benzonia, Patrick and wife Lynn Huntley of Flint and John and wife Heather Berry of Swartz Creek; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; Vera was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Albert and Ida Benson, sisters Josephine, Ida Pearl, Goldie, Betty and brother Albert.
