Obituary of Elba Dale Ostrander
Elba “Dale” Ostrander, age 78, of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, February 15, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. The funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, February 26, 2018, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Mr. Russell Homan officiating with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Dale’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Saturday, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm; Sunday, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm, and on Monday morning, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am. On Saturday evening, family and friends will gather for a Lions Club Memorial Service at 7:00 pm, and on Sunday evening, family and friends will gather for the Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s Memorial Service at 7:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Dale was born July 29, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elba and Marie (Ferguson) Ostrander. He graduated from Clio High School, class of 1957. Dale married the love of his life, Maxine Brimmer on January 14, 1961. Sadly, she preceded him in death on February 10, 2010. Elba proudly served in the United States Army for 12 years until receiving his honorable discharge on March 31, 1965. He worked as a gas line repairman for Consumers Power for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was a Boy Scout leader, past president, and secretary of the Mt. Morris Lions Club. He was a 40-year member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows, Otisville Lions Club, Jaycees, and the Genesee Township Neighborhood watch. In his free time, Dale enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind-hearted man, who enjoyed helping others.
Left to cherish his memory: son, Larry (Debbie DeCoe) Ostrander; daughter; Arlene (Mark) Furden; grandchildren; Shaun DeCoe, Aleshia (Charlie) DeCoe, Brad (Alicia) DeCoe, Brian (Amanda) DeCoe, Brandi Galloway, Nikki (David) Bailey, Elba (Jaime) Ostrander, Courtney Ostrander, Jessica (Kyle Bruff) Rocheleau, Sheyenne and Chely Furden; great-grandchildren: Brian, Parker, Rowen, Rylie, Sabrina, Destiny, Christopher, Miranda, Cody, Airanna, and Justin; great-great-grandchildren: Christopher, and Ivy; sister, Laura (Richard) Gray ; and many other family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maxine, son Elba “Carl,” four brothers: Earl, Byron, Bill, and Dennis.
