Obituary of George Robert Folts
Age 80, of Clio, formerly of Rosebush, Michigan, died, Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. In accordance with George’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating George’s life will take place at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services – Mt. Morris on Thursday, February 15, 2018. George’s family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 pm until the time of his memorial service at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Georges name can be directed to the Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
George was born on July 14, 1937, in Gladwin, Michigan to the late Mr. & Mrs. John and Eva (Wright) Folts. He graduated from Gladwin High School. George went on to join the United States Army, proudly serving in the Korean War. He was a tradesman and worked on the pipeline as an inspector for many years traveling all over the world. George married Joyce Loviska. Sadly, she preceded him in death in 1999. He was a talented man and was able to play many different instruments. In his free time, George liked to spend time with his family and dog Winston, gardening, treasure hunting at antique shops or Garage sales. He loved to fly his airplane and had a passion for cars. George will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his three children: Kalleen (Gary) Atkins, Linda Folts and Michael Folts; five grandchildren: Nicholas Robison, Lindsey Baugher, Andrew Atkins, Rachel Atkins and Kevin Atkins; ten great-grandchildren; one brother: Max (Barb) Folts; and longtime friend: Shirley Batterbee and her two grandchildren: Katie Brodie and Emilee Amon.
George is preceded in death by his loving wife Joyce, two sons, Tim Folts and Anthony “Tony” Folts, parents, one sister and four brothers.
