Obituary of Sarah Ann (Jung) Powers
Age 82 of Mt. Morris, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Hospice House of Shiawassee County, in Owosso, after a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris with private burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Monday, November 13, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Monday afternoon, family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 3:00 pm. On Tuesday, Sarah will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary School or Hospice House of Shiawassee County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and at church.
Sarah was born in Flint, Michigan, on November 11, 1934, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel and Lelah (Crew) McDermaid. She and Ken Jung were united in marriage in 1952 and he preceded her in death on May 25, 1982. She would later marry Gary Powers, who also preceded her in death on July 29, 2007.
Sarah worked for Dr. Stetson and Genesys for many years until her retirement. She was also employed at Miles Martin Funeral Home for over 35 years as a receptionist. Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking and helping others.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Sue and husband, Paul Corcoran, Gail and husband, Mark Alderson, Diane and husband, Dan Whitehead, Jeanette and husband, Jon Provorse, Rebecca and husband, Tom Findlay and Ken Jung; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; grandson, Cole Ratcliff; brother, Ralph Culliton; and sister, Virginia Worthington.
