Obituary of James "Jim" Ernest Roesner
James “Jim” Ernest Roesner, age 90, of Clio, died Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Cranberry Park Assisted Living. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 11:00 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. James’ family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, on Wednesday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm; Wednesday evening, family and friends will gather at the funeral home for a Scripture Service at 6:00 pm. On Thursday morning, James will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic School. Envelopes are available at the funeral home, and at the church.
James was born July 16, 1927, in Flint, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Sylvester and Mary (Dietering) Roesner. He and Marjorie Ann Stringer were united in marriage on May 27, 1950. Sadly, Marjorie preceded James in death on January 11, 2005. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy for two years until receiving his honorable discharge. He worked for Goyette Mechanical, plumbing department for 13 years, until his retirement in 1989. In his free time, James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, tinkering around the house, and traveling to Florida. He was an avid golfer and was a 50-year member of the Clio Country Club.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Daniel (Sherri) Roesner, Rick (Twila) Roesner, Karen (Tom) Soltis, Mary Roesner, Christine (Rick) Worley, Sharon (Rob) McAndrew, Bill (Marcia) Roesner, Edward Roesner, and Dianne (Chuck) Stickler; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren on the way; and many other family members and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie, two brothers and a sister.
