Obituary of Walter Charles Guibord
Age 89, of Mt. Morris, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Maplewood Manor. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church located at 11110 North Saginaw St., Mt. Morris, Michigan. Reverend Father William Wegher will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Monday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather at the funeral home to Pray the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Tuesday morning, Walter will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
Walter was born March 6, 1928, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Elizabeth “Lizzy” (Truedell) Guibord. He proudly served his country during World War II as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy. He and Marion were united in marriage January 5, 1968, in Flint. Walter worked at Fischer Body for 21 years, retiring in 1980 he also worked as an interior and exterior decorator for over 65 years. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, gardening, landscaping, and going out for his Friday night dinners with his friends. Walter was also a true-blue University of Michigan fan.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Steven Guibord; daughter, Debra (Mike) McDonald; step-son Leroy (Judy) Gilkes; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion; and his siblings Mercedes, Janet, and Louis.
