Obituary of Raymond William Stewart
Age 91, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, September 29, 2017, at his home surround by family. In accordance with Raymond’s wishes cremation has taken place.
Raymond was born June 15, 1926, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Judson and Bessie (Clayton) Stuart. He went to school in Mills River, North Carolina. Raymond and Betty Carland were united in marriage on January 3, 1950, in North Carolina. He later enlisted in the United States Navy. Raymond was honorably discharged in May of 1945. He worked at the General Motors Fisher Body plant in Flint for many years. In his free time, Raymond enjoyed, fishing, golfing, bowling and watching sports to include the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Pistons.
Left to cherish his memory are his two children: Michael (Faye) Stewart and Judy Stewart Brady; three grandchildren: Chris (Tiffany) Brady, Michael Stewart Jr. and Matthew (Paige) Stewart; three sisters-in-law: Ruby Stewart, Iona Carland, and Faye Costner; and special friends: Margie Watson and Denice Smith.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Betty Stewart, parents, and 12 brothers and sisters.
