Obituary of Richard Allan Blair
Richard Allan Blair, age 64, of Vassar, formerly of Mt. Morris, passed away at home with his wife by his side on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. The funeral service will take place at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 2:00 pm, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Richard’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Saturday, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Richard was born December 4, 1952, in Flint, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin and Margaret (Ellsworth) Blair. He married Kay Blair on January 26, 1974, in Montrose. Richard proudly served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War for 3 years until receiving his honorable discharge. Upon returning to civilian life, Richard would begin working General Motors – Delphi East in Flint, retiring after 30.1 years of service. He was a long-time member of UAW Local #651. In his free time, Richard enjoyed spending time with their family and friends, watching Westerns, hunting and fishing in Canada, spending time outdoors, and going on cruises to the Caribbean.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife, Kay; three children: Tracy (Ray) Campbell, Jamie (Kevin) Riddle, Joseph Paivarinta, five sisters: Linda (Glenn) Baker, Kathy (Paul) Rhodes, Marilyn (Tim) Kocsis, Joanne (Luther) Hatchet, and Helen Blair; four brothers: Gerald (Cathi) Blair, Robert (Carol) Blair, Gary (Elaine) Blair and Charles (Roxanne) Blair; and many other family member, and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Brian, three sons: Jason Earl, Ricky Alan, and Dale Anthony.
