Marie was born March 6, 1926, in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto and Ethel(Mead) Quintel. She and Stanley Clark were united in marriage on September 27, 1947. She attended Charles Stewart Mott Community College and graduated with honors as a registered nurse in 1975, specializing in Gerontology (1980). She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris and faithfully served her Lord in the choir and Sunday School programs. She loved to sing and play the piano. She was a den mother for her sons' Boy Scout years and assisted with her daughters' Girl Scouting programs. In her later years, she spent many hours quilting with the Lutheran ladies in Gladstone. She also enjoyed basket making, leaving many which are now family heirlooms. She loved to play Scrabble and usually won! She loved being at Mead Lodge, the family cottage on Big Platte Lake every summer where she was also an active member of the Grange.
