Obituary of Thomas "Tommy" Halpin
of Mt. Morris died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at McLaren-Flint.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am, on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, Mt. Morris. Mrs. Libby Peterson will officiate with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm, and on Saturday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Friday evening, family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 6:00 pm for a Remembrance Ceremony & Toast. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary School. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Tommy was born on January 27, 1954, the son of Paul and Eileen Halpin. Educated locally through the Mt. Morris Schools, Tommy was in the first Special Education Graduating Class in 1973. He was employed at Mitchell’s Market in Mt. Morris for 20 years as a stocker. Tommy was an avid volunteer in the Mt. Morris Community; serving as the Manager of the Wrestling Team, volunteering with the high school art classes, the Mt. Morris Library, along with helping with numerous civic and St. Mary’s Catholic Church activities. In his free time, Tommy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, riding his bike, roller skating, cutting coupons, cheering on Michigan State and winning money at the casino. Tommy touched many lives in the Mt. Morris Community and will be truly missed by many.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Jerry Halpin, Sue Boegner, and Melanie Moore and husband, Fernando Molina; nieces and nephews, Nathan and Jeremy Halpin, Carrie Boegner and fiancé, Michael Poehner, Kirk Boegner and Lauren and Aubrey Moore; great-nephews, Alex, Jacob, Jackson and Brayden; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Crompton; care givers, Bill, Sandy and Fran; and many dear friends and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
