Obituary of Thomas "Tom" Dennis Leineke
Age 59, of Mt. Morris, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at his residence. A funeral celebrating Tom’s life will take place 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services – Mt. Morris. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 11:00 am until the time of service. Memorials can be directed to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Tom was born on August 5, 1958, in Flint, Michigan, to Mr. & Mrs. Thomas and Emma Jean (Campbell) Leineke. He attended Clio High School, graduating in 1976. Shortly after, Tom and JoAnn Newcombe were united in marriage on December 11, 1976, in Clio. Tom worked for General Motors Fisher Body until 1988. His career path took him to work for the Mt. Morris Schools as a custodian and maintenance worker. Tom had a love for sports. He coached many teams for Mt. Morris Schools in basketball, softball, and baseball. His favorite teams included the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. In his free time, Tom enjoyed hunting up north in the Roscommon and Harrison areas, fishing, going camping at Miller Lake and spending time with his family and friends around the campfire or in his garage at home. He will be truly missed by many family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are wife: JoAnn Leineke; two children: TJ (Brandy) Leineke and Melodie and Fiance Jerry Walker; 11 grandchildren: Austin, Elexis, Zack, Jacob, Kaylee, Brianna, Marrisa, Katrina, James, Nathan and Savionn; two great-grandchildren: Adrianna and Nevaeh; mother: Emma Jean (Gifford) Rohrer; step-mother: Ardith Leineke: three brothers and sister: Joe Leineke and significant other, Eleyna Brandt, Chris (Diane) Leineke, Mark (Lori) Leineke and Julie Leineke.
Tom was preceded in death by his father Thomas, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harvey “Joe” Newcombe and Beatrice Ann Faust, and many aunts and uncles.
