Obituary of Norman "Fritz" Fred Adams
Age 91, of Fairgrove, died, Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at McLaren Bay Region. A funeral celebrating Fritz’s life will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, August 4, 2017, at Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Pastor Philomena Ofori-Nipaah will be officiating, with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Fairgrove on Thursday, August 3, 2017, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials can be directed to Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Fritz was born on May 9, 1926, in Fairgrove, Michigan, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Milton and Adella (Eckfeld) Adams. He attended Fairgrove Schools, graduating in 1944. Three days later Fritz joined the United States Navy, where he was commissioned to the Philippines. He married Betty Buck in 1950 to raise four children. Fritz attended Alma College. Shortly after, he started his own business called Adams Service, where he worked for 34 years. He went on to work for Saginaw Steering Gear until his retirement in 1992. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and staying the winter in Apache Junction, Arizona. Fritz was a lifelong member of Fairgrove Presbyterian Church, president of the village of Fairgrove for 25 years, a life member of the VFW, and Fairgrove Golf League.
Fritz will be remembered by all as a loving husband, father, papa, great papa, and friend to all. Left to cherish his memory are four children, John (Karen) Adams of Fairgrove, Michigan, Judy (Dan) Muska of Lake Orion, Michigan, James (Debra) Adams of Richmond, Texas, and Jeffery Adams of Caro, Michigan; grandchildren, Andrea (Andrew) Van Engen of Ohio, Allison (Brent) Frazey of Arizona, Scott (Barbara) Muska of Michigan, Joshua (Shannon) Muska of Michigan, Stephanie (Travis) Hausler of Texas, Kristin Adams of Texas, Gregg Adams of Michigan, Tiffany Adams of Michigan,13 great-grandchildren and special friend Eloise Lisk of Bay City.
Fritz was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Betty, parents Milton and Adella, and three brothers Junior, Robert and Donald.
