Obituary of Walter (Pete) William Witkowski
Age 76, of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at McLaren Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning to officiate with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Pete will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Military Honors will be presented Sunday evening at the funeral home at 6:00 pm with a Rosary to follow.
Pete was born September 11, 1940, in Petersville “Rogers City”, to the late Frank and Josephine (Hincka) Witkowski. He and Sally were united in marriage on September 18, 1965. Pete retired from General Motors. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. In his free time, Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the casino, and playing poker and cards with many friends. He will be greatly missed by many.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sally Witkowski; two sons: Brian (Nichole) Witkowski and Darin (Kristine) Witkowski; 14 grandchildren: Bryanna Witkowski, Brendan Witkowski, Zachary Witkowski, Chaise Witkowski, Gabriel Witkowski, Alexandar Witkowski, Genevieve Witkowski, Lucas Witkowski, Maria Witkowski, Grace Witkowski, Jake Bednarski, Josh Bednarski, Jason Bednarski, and John Bednarski; two brothers and two sisters: Eleanor Kiesel, Richard Witkowski, Janet (Phil) Whitehouse, and Louis Witkowski; special family: Tim (Melanie) Bednarski and Becky Bednarski; several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Georgina, brothers and sisters, Dorothy LaLone, Agnes Savage, Frank Witkowski Jr., Edward Witkowski, and Estelle Plume.
