Obituary of David Jackson Foy
Age 72, of Goodrich, died Friday, June 2, 2017, at Medilodge of Grand Blanc. In accordance with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A conjoined Celebration of Life will be held for David and Wilda on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Family and friends will gather at 4:00 pm for a toast honoring the lives of David and Wilda. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
David was born July 27, 1944, in Flint, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Madge (Moncrief) Foy. He married Wilda Burhans on April 16, 1966, in Flint. Sadly, Wilda preceded him in death on October 21, 2016. David graduated from Bennett High School in Marion, Indiana. He worked as a clerk for General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1997. In his free time, David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling to Pictured Rocks in Michigan and Ireland. He was a longtime member of the International Llama Association, the Sierra Club. He had a love for the outdoors, he was a pack trail certifier for ILA, and enjoyed going to the 4-H Outdoor Challenge. He was also guardian ad litem for C/CAN.
Left to cherish his memory, two children: Kimberly Foy, and Ryan (Stephanie) Foy; three grandchildren: sister, Trish Zygmond; brother, William “Bill” (Jane Garside) Foy; brother-in-law, Chris (Jennie) Burhans; lifelong friends: Doug (Kathy) Trussell, Danny (Patricia) Mudd, Gordon Powers, and Glenda Bloom; and many other family members and friends.
David’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Grace Hospice, and the nursing staff at Medilodge of Grand Blanc.
