Obituary of Wanda Mitchell

Wanda Mitchell, age 86, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, to start her new life with Christ, and to be reunited with her husband, Richard Dean Mitchell. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 10:00 am at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Bruce Billings to officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 26, 2017, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. Those desiring to make memorial contributions in Wanda's memory may direct them towards Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mrs. Mitchell was born September 17, 1930, in Flint to the late Mr. Charles Lloyd Macham and Ms. Evelyn Parker-Ostrander. Educated locally, Wanda attended Bentley High School graduating with the class of 49'. She and Richard Dean Mitchell were united in marriage on April 5, 1955, in Flint. Wanda was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and spending time with her family and friends. Wanda was an accomplished artist; she enjoyed gardening and spending her summers up north. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Caryn Hillier and husband, Lonnie, Caryl Mitchell-Fritz and husband, Russell, and Scott M. Mitchell and Linda; Grandchildren: Timothy, Chaundelle, Brandon, Crystyl, Ashlynn, Arik, Carissa; several Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Richard Dean Mitchell, and her parents, and two sisters: Pat and Polly.
