Obituary of Timothy "Tim" Michael Matheson
Timothy “Tim” Matheson, age 66, of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, May 11, 2017. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter to officiate with cremation to follow. Timothy’s family will receive friends at the Messiah Lutheran Church on Monday, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to Messiah Lutheran Church or to The Old News Boys of Flint. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Timothy was born February 4, 1951, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Shirley (Mathes) Matheson. He and Roxanne Thwing were united in marriage on October 20, 1973. Sadly, she preceded him in death on December 21, 2015. He worked as a car hauler for Teamsters Local 332 in Flint, for 37 years from 1976 until his retirement in 2013. He was an active member of several Eagles Aerie Posts throughout his lifetime. He was a hardworking, talented craftsman that was always willing to lend a hand. In his free time, he loved spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time in Tawas, hunting, fishing, trolling on his pontoon on Cooke Pond, and riding his motorcycle.
Left to cherish his memory, two daughters: Jennifer (Jeremy) Shew, and Andrea (Jason) Lawson; two grandbabies: Lillian, and Jack; sister, Tami (Dennis) Calrson, brother, Thomas Matheson; mother-in-law, Phyllis Thwing, and in-laws: Pam (Greg) Brown, Don (Lee) Thwing, Jr., and Cindy (John) Kruck; and many other family members, and many special friends from Brown’s Landing RV Park in Tawas City.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Roxanne, sister Teri Brockett, brother Theodore Matheson, and father-in-law Donald Thwing, Sr.
