White Family,\

I wanted to give my sincerest condolences to your family. Richard and I worked together at the Marriott in Houston and dated for a while. I am in such shock to hear of his death. I can't stop thinking of all the wonderful memories I have of him. Please know you had a special son/brother and he has touched many lives. He will be missed.\
\
Richard was a wonderful person. He loved life and lived it to its fullest. He loved his friends and always made us laugh with his many jokes. He was so kind and gave from his heart with all of his heart. He always was willing to help whoever was in need. He loved to have fun and I have a bank account full of those wonderful memories of fun. Some of those memories included visiting New Orleans with him and visiting almost every jazz club we could find in the French Quarter. He took me to a Rolling Stones concert and that was a blast. \
\
One thing that always stuck in my mind about Richard was what he told us he wanted us to do when he died. He said, more than once, that he wants us to play 'What a Wonderful World' By Louis Armstrong at his funeral. As if he knew he would die before us. For the last 17 years, everytime I hear that song I think of Richard and wondered where he was and what he was doing. \
May his memory live forever and my deepest sympathy to all of the family.\
Most people called him Rich, but I loved to call him Richard.\
\
I'm grieving with you for Richard and hope each day will become easier for you.\
\
Sincerely,\
\

My condolences to Richard's family and friends. My relationship with Richard was a very happy and loving time. In June of 1999 my flight to Bermuda was delayed for 3 hours therefore when I arrived at the Marriott hotel all the restaurants were closed. I went to eat in the Pub for a late snack. The moon was full that night,as it will be tonight. Afterwards, I went outside to have a drink on the terrace overlooking the ocean. Richard was sitting with a group of Managers that he worked with at the hotel, he invited me sit with them and the first question, he asked was,"where are you from" and I said, "Michigan although I live in New York". That was the beginning of my blessing, his ability to reach out and make a complete stranger feel welcome. I appreciated his smile, humor, quick wit, laughter, kindness, thoughtfulness, selflessness and intelligent. My best friend forevermore. \
\
With the kindest regards,\

Dear Family Members - I was fortunate enough to spend two four day vacations, July 2006 and July 2007 with Rich , Kevin and his family in Las Vegas. We all had a great time and I realized where Kevin got his smarts, good humor, and good looks from- it was from his little brother Rich... Rich- what a great man, sad to see him go so early. The memories I have of Uncle Richard are fond and unforgettable. After Richard moved back from New York I finally got to know my Uncle for his friendly and entertaining personality. \
\
When I was finally legal to gamble, I was fortunate to spend time in Las Vegas with Uncle Richard, my Dad and friends. Those 5 days in Vegas where a blast and there was never a dull moment. One morning after staying up all night gambling, Richard and I were on the way back to our rooms. The moment the elevator door opened at our floor we saw my Dad ready to go to a meeting. All my Dad could do was laugh and shake his head as Richard and I went to rest up for the next Vegas adventure. \
\
Uncle Richard would often come to watch my hockey games. Being able to look up in the stands and see I had the support of Richard and the rest of my family was always special to me.\
\
From family gatherings to vacations and hockey games I will always embrace my memories of Uncle Richard.\

I wish to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of Richard. I donAaat think ever in my life that I have met someone that smiled and laughed as much. It is impossible to put into words how much his presence will be missed; however, the memories he gave everyone will be remembered and greatly cherished. There is no doubt in my mind that wherever Richard is now he is cracking jokes and having a great time, just as he did each time I saw him.\

My deepest sympathies to the family, Richard and I worked in accounting back in the early 90's. He was an upbeat happy person, made us laugh no matter what was going on. I often wondered where he went after leaving our hotel, but I knew his personality could get him anywhere. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Peggy & myself are truly weakened and saddened learning about Rich's passing, and express our sincere sympathy to ALL the family, particularly his parents whom we know he loved and cared for deeply.\
\
Rich was truly a brilliant and fun-loving guy during those early days when we met in Houston. To say the least, at that time he was certainly a 'shining star', when computer technology was in it's infancy, and he offered such great ideas and challenges to his superiors and peers, many of whom who resisted change - what an exceptional Night Auditor, & Income Auditor ! In these latter positions, he was certainly a 'breath of fresh air', not boasting of his uinque skills, but offering to help others understand, 'where he was coming from', and was well respected for this. \
\
He also had an inquiring mind, and was not afraid to 'take chances', dabbling in so many other areas, encourgaing others to do likewise - but doing it in a very 'fun way'.\
\
Even in those Houston days, he always cared so much for his parents, and looked forward to being with them whenever they were in Michigan or Florida - not surprisingly, I understand he spent as much time with them as possible, even in his last years, and know they will miss that quality time with him. \
\
I know the entire group Rich's friends in Houston have fond and 'fun' memories of him, will cherish these, and will miss his 'sense of wit'.\
\
On behalf of Peggy and myself. we wish to express to all the family our sincere sympathy, and want you all to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time - Peter & Peggy Turpin

I cannot even find the right words to say how deeply saddened I am. I wish life did not hold these unexpected twists and turns, but I will always have the warm memories of you. From family gatherings and spending time with you in Vegas, I got to know your soft-spoken, friendly, and caring personality. You could come up with some witty comments to put a smile on everyoneAaas face. It was always such a riot to watch you and my dad interact during family gatherings. You guys sure knew how to have a good time! I will cherish the memories and be thinking of you always. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.\

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy. We loved Richard and got to meet him while he resided in new York city with a very dear friend, Sheila Mitchell. They certainly had a fairytale romance. They were both very attentive to each other and it was a joy to watch them together. They were sooo much in love. He was the sweetest, caring and most gentle man ever. We remember his wonderful smile and his eyes that gleamed with happiness and joy whenever we would visit them. They were always sooo happy together and I knew they had a very blessed union. He will be greatly missed and he truly made a difference in our lives and and in the lives of all the people he touched with his kind spirit. His spirit will always be with us. We thank God for the opportunity to have had him as a part of our lives. God Bless you all. Jason and Sheila Kelly

Condolences to Richard's family and friends. We've lost a wonderful man who did a lot to brighten our lives. We know that his last several months were very difficult ones for him, and I'm sure for his family members who were right there with him. We know Richard from his New York years where we shared many good times. A particular memory that stands out for me is when Richard and Sheila came to visit Suki and me at our summer house in New Hampshire, and Richard's glee at listening to another friend's stories; an appreciation that really served this other man at the time. Also, Sheila piloting up Mount Washington in what seemed like a huge rent-a-car on a tiny rock and dirt road, Richard and all of us alternately oohing and aahing at the view and grabbing for anything we could and nearly ---ing our pants in fear of going over the edge!

I met Richard through my friend and neighbor, Shelia Mitchell. Shelia and Richard were truly a most loving pair. Gradually, as the years passed, I got to know them. We would run into each other on the elevator, at the mailbox, on the street - Broadway, here in New York. As time passed, we met socially. \
\
Shelia and Richard were always so gracious. Though I lived only a floor below them, the most hilarious thing happened on my first visit to their apartment. Suffering from allergies, I took a Benadryl prior to my visit. Well, we drunk a bottle of champagne. Champagne and Benadryl does not mix. Unwittingly, I simply curled up on their sofa - not just me, but my dog, Bruce too - and we fell asleep. It must have been around 9 p.m. (This is a must never do sort of thing in Manhattan.)\
\
Well, at 4:30 a.m. or so, I woke up completely startled. Could not remember where I was. Bruce had awaken too. When I heard him, I knew that I was safe. Frightfully embarrassed, we quietly returned home. It was the beginning of a most hilarious and precious friendship. \
\
Richard was uncommonly gentle, intelligent, and ever gracious. We are all at a loss for his oh-too-soon departure. My condolences to everyone who has ever known him.

My memories of Richard still swell in my heart, especially at our family get-togethers. I can recall lots of games - most importantly baseball, great food - such as Fish Fry's during Lent and Mexican (don't forget the beans!), and good times by all. It almost seemed like the Brady Bunch tripled!\
\
My best memories with Richard were when we were younger, and as we grew older our Clan still kept in touch through word of mouth and the pride that parents take in their children. \
\
We shall keep Richard in are thoughts as his Soul still glows. Although we cannot be at Richard's service, our Heart's will participate in his Celebration of Life from afar.\
