Obituary of Georgia A. Doty-Vaughan
Of Mt. Morris, age 90, died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at McLaren-Lapeer. The funeral service will take place 10:00 am, Friday, May 12, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Pastor Kevin Dixson will officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm, then on Friday at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Morris, from 9:00 am until time of service.
Georgia was born February 28, 1927, in Vanlier, Kentucky, the daughter of Albert and America (Blevins) Wilson. She and Alfred Doty were united in marriage in 1944, sadly he preceded her in death in September of 1983. She then married her good friend Harold Vaughan in 1987, sadly he also preceded her in death in 1999. Georgia was a loving and caring mother and was known for her feisty personality. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Morris for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed making crafts and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family and making them biscuits and gravy.
Georgia leaves to cherish her memory, children; Al and wife, Merrilee Doty of Auburn, Michigan, Ron Doty of Oakwood, Illinois, Sharon and husband, Tom McPherson of Riley, Michigan; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Ernestine and husband, Don Hensley; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Alfred Doty and second husband, Harold Vaughan.
