Obituary of Esther Louise Gorashko

Esther Gorashko, Age 82, of Vassar, died Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Comfort Care in Bay City. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Rev. Dr. William P. Sanders to officiate with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution in Esther's memory may direct the towards Watrousville-Caro Area Historical Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Esther was born December 2, 1934, in Sanilac County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin C. and Illa (Perry) Gerstenberger. She and Alexander Gorashko were united in marriage on September 14, 1974, in Fairgrove. She worked as a housewares buyer for Morley Brothers in Saginaw for over 20 years. For many years, Esther played a vital role in the operation and management of the Watrousville-Caro Area Historical Society. Esther was known to many as the life of the party and would always help others whenever she had the chance. Esther often showed her compassion towards her community by volunteering at an animal shelter and volunteering at the soup kitchen. She also enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables in her garden at home for many years. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Alexander Gorashko; brothers-in-law: John and wife, Charlotte Valentine and Robert and wife, Linda Gorashko; three nieces: Nicol and husband, Brad Mcnitt, Wendy and husband, Chris Clarke, Malissa Gorashko; nephew, Tim and wife, Emily Gorashko; numerous great-nieces, and great-nephews; a great-great nephew; step-niece Carol Leach; step-nephew, Patrick and wife, Donna Valentine.
