Obituary of Marvin Duane DeWitt

Age 73, of Birch Run, died, Tuesday, February 21, 2017, in Saginaw. A funeral service celebrating Marvin’s life will take place at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar, on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 1:00 pm. Reverend Scott Sherrill will be officiating. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery on Monday at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 24, 2017, from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Aleda E. Lutz Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Saginaw. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Marvin was born January 30, 1944, the son of George and Ruth (Oliver) DeWitt. He served bravely in the United States Army, fighting in the Vietnam War. Marvin and Edna Noyce were united in marriage on November 4, 1972, in Genesee, Michigan. Sadly she predeceased him in 2009. He worked for General Motors Buick City on the assembly line for 25 years before he retired. Marvin was a member of the UAW #599, Fraternal Order of the Eagle #3609 and VFW Post #2725. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing, trapping, playing the lottery and watching WWE Wresting. Marvin loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family. He is survived by four children: Myra (Jim) Payzont, Kimberly (Roger) Jewell, Veronica (Tim) Childs, and Lisa (Dave) Leach; nine grandchildren: Jeremy, Krista (Joshua), Brad, Nick, Breanna, Bethany, Colin, Elijah, and Makenna; five great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Kennith, Joshua, Roger, and Ande; two sisters and one brother: Marlene Nickert, Joyce (Andy) Forgo and Bill (Carol) DeWitt. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother James DeWitt, sister Audrey Hawks, and brother-in-law Bud Nickert.
