Obituary of Betty Lorraine Harcz

Age 89, of Mt. Morris, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at home in Mt. Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 27, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Mary Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau to officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 25, 2017, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Sunday, February 26, 2017, from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Betty will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am. Betty was born March 4, 1927, in Mt. Morris, to the late Glenn Edward and Nellie Florence (Hayes) Buys. She and Paul Joseph Harcz were united in marriage on March 5, 1952. Betty retired from Genesee Intermediate School District. She had a special place in her heart for physically and mentally impaired children. She also taught for several years at the Michigan School for the Deaf and worked hard to bring Special Education Programs to the Mt. Morris School System. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, and cheering on the University of Michigan, Wolverines. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul Harcz Sr.; eight children: Joe, Greg, Tom and wife, Deborah, Mike and wife, Terri, Christopher and wife, Cheryl, Betty Robin and husband, Jim Norton, John and wife Betsy, David and wife, Patti; sister, Jeanne and husband, Cliff Blakemore, 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; good friends: Faith, Bill, and Rita; Several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Cierra Rose, brother George, and daughter-in-law Donna.
