Obituary of Eugene Harold Schnell

Age 81, of Vassar, died Thursday, January 26, 2017, at home in Vassar. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at 3:00 pm at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Robert Gadeken will officiate with burial to follow in St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Vassar, and at the church on Sunday, from 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm. Those desiring to make memorial contributions in Eugene’s memory may direct them towards St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Eugene was born September 24, 1935, in Saginaw to the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Erna (Keinath). In June of 1961, Eugene and Marcia Yager were united in marriage in Merritt Township, Michigan. Sadly, she preceded him in death on September 4, 2000. After Graduating from Vassar High School, Eugene went on to work on the assembly line for General Motors. He loved camping and fishing with his family and going to try his luck at the casino with his wife before her passing. Eugene also liked to do some gardening, and a great deal of bird and deer watching in his later years of life. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Michael and wife, Carol Schnell, and Clifford and fiancée, Roxanne Yeager; two grandchildren: Jason Schnell, and Chad Schnell; two step-grandchildren: Zach Weiss, and Stephanie Mauer; special niece, Pam Sadowski. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia (Yager) Schnell, parents, brother Ronald, and sister Sally.
