Obituary of Stella Shannon

Age 87, of Clio, died Monday, January 23, 2017, at Wellspring Lutheran Services of Frankenmuth. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Deacon Raymond Ellingson will officiate with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Stella's family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Stella was born May 26, 1929, in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Veronica (Kamuda) Gan. She graduated from Flint Northern High School with the Class of 1948. Stella and Robert Shannon were united in marriage on June 24, 1950, in Flint. Her career path would lead her to Montague Elementary School in Mt. Morris, where she worked as a secretary for many years before retiring in 1987. Stella was a member of SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church of Clio. She greatly enjoyed camping in Michigan, gardening, playing bingo, painting, going to casinos, and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are husband: Robert Shannon; two sons: Dennis (Nancy) Shannon and Mark (Ronda) Shannon; granddaughter: Jacqueline Shannon and fiancé, Brent Jones; great-granddaughter: Charlotte Jones; sister: Helen Burt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Rebecca Linn Shannon, and two brothers: Ted Gacek and Edward Gacek.
