Obituary of Frederick Huntley

Age 94, of Clio, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017. The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Lamb of God Fellowship, 214 N. Saginaw St., Montrose, MI. Frederick’s family will be present to receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Tim Hobson will officiate with a private burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Envelopes are available at the church. Frederick was born October 11, 1922, in Clare, Michigan, the son of the late Frederick and Flossie (VanWormer) Huntley. He and Jessie Dyball were united in marriage on June 28, 1948, in Angola, Indiana. Sadly, she preceded him in death on September 30, 2016. They were married for 68 wonderful years. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII; during most of the major battles in Europe with the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”. He worked for GM Flint Truck & Bus as a fork truck operator for 32 years, retiring in 1980. He was a past member of the Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post #1452 in Clio, and a long-time member of UAW Local #598. In his free time, Frederick enjoyed spending time with his family, pheasant and deer hunting, fishing and playing softball. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Sally and husband, Charlie Gilbert, and Polly and husband, Vern Sergent; two grandsons: Michael and wife, Mary, and Chuck; three great-grandchildren: Noah, Eli and Anna; and many other family members. Frederick was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 68 years Jessie, and his grandson Terry Hethorn.
