Obituary of Karen Kay (Young) Evans

Age 75, of Vassar, died Thursday, October 27, 2016, at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center in Saginaw. Cremation has taken place. Life celebration will take place at Martin Funeral Home of Vassar on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 2:00 pm. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the service at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Karen was born June 13, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin and Etty (Davis) Young. Karen graduated from Vassar with the class of 1959. She and Edward Evans were united in marriage on March 26, 1960. Karen worked as a custodian for the Vassar Schools for 22 years before retiring. Karen loved to spend most of her time with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She spent her time planting flowers in her many flower beds and spent time collecting many antiques. Karen was a loving and caring woman. She will be greatly missed. Karen is survived by her husband: Edward; children: Janet Evans, Wayne and wife Deborah Evans, James Evans; grandchildren: Joshua and wife Stacy Evans, Bethany and husband Matt Gross; great-grandchildren: Jack, Bennett, Emalyn, Nolan, Chelsea, Lilianna; sister and brother: Marvel Bekemeier, Gary and wife Mary Lou Young; brother in law: Lawrence and wife Donna Evans; sisters in law: Eldonna and husband Lee Schrader, Sharron and husband Joe McIntyre; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Gail and husband Maynard Fackler; and brother in law: Fred Bekemeier.
