Obituary of Burton Guy Cox

Age 73, of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Mclaren-Flint. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services- Mt. Morris. Pastor Jim Salo to officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive at the funeral home on Friday, October 21, 2016, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Saturday, from 12:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm. Burton “Sonny” Cox Jr. was born January 12, 1943, in Flint, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Burton Sr. and Ethel (Reed) Cox. Burton spent the majority of his life in the Greater Flint Area and is a General Motors retiree. On August 25, 1984, he and Wahnetah Neumann were united in marriage in Mt. Morris, spending 32 wonderful years together. Sonny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending precious time with his family. Sonny was an overall fun, compassionate, and charismatic man. Sonny would use his sense of humor to bring joy to his family and friends. Sonny and Wahnetah spent their time off vacationing with their family in Lake, Michigan at Sandy Shores Resort. Left to cherish his memory are his; wife, Wahnetah (Neumann) Cox; six children: Connie, Gordan, Lisa, Danny, Ardele and husband, Garrett, and Rachelle; four step-daughters: Kerri, Kim, Nita, and Terri; 12 grandchildren: Nikki, Sarah, Danielle, Shyann, Chazz, Brittany, Trevor, Trenten, Taylor, Tyler, Jordan, and Kamden; seven great-grandchildren: Austin, Skylnn, Aubry, Ethaniel, Madison, Makayla, and Hunter; four brothers: Bill Cox, Rick and wife, Laurie Cox, Randy and wife, Mary Cox, and Tim Cox and wife; two sisters: Kaye and husband, Ron Draper, and Sandy Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bob and Jerry, and grandson Kennard David Radford III.
