She attended Davison High School and graduated in 1961.She and Ronald Hartwell were united in marriage on December 22, 1962, sadly he preceded her in death on August 22, 1990. Doris was a stay at home mother and worked on the family farm. She tended to all of the animals and helped take care of the one-acre garden and canned all of the vegetables she could. She was also a Sunday School teacher and volunteered with the Girl Scouts while her daughters were growing up. She also loved going to their hunting cabin in Newberry.
Doris was a member of the Genesee Lions Clubs, Eastern Stars and Highlands Social Club. She loved spoiling all of her grandchildren and video recorded their special occasions with each other. When not busy with her family, she did puzzles, played games, marbles, and cards. All of the games were played by her rules, so she had one up on everyone. She was a joyous, loving, compassionate and adventurous person who will be missed by all.
Left to cherish her memory are children: Dawn and husband, Kalin Shattuck, Diana Hartwell and significant other, Joe Severance, and Ronald and Carrie Hartwell; grandchildren: Thomas Hartwell, Andrew and Lindsay Higham, Zachary Shattuck, Felicia and Cody Stricker, and Trevor Hartwell; many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
