James “Jim” Skinner, age 74, of Birch Run, formerly of Clio, died Friday, June 24, 2016. The funeral service will take place. 11:30 am, Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris; with burial to follow at Thetford Twp. Cemetery. James’ family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm and again from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
James was born March 4, 1942, in Flint, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Percy and Donna Jean (Curtis) Skinner. He married Donna Ackler April 13, 1991, on Sunset Beach in Oahu, Hawaii. He proudly served in the United States Army as a tank operator in Alaska until receiving his honorable discharge. Jim worked skilled trades for Buick for 36 years until retiring in 2000. He was also a locksmith in his spare time. Jim was a long time member of UAW Local #599. In his free time, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends up north at the family’s cabin, deer hunting, watching his grandson race, watching NASCAR and American Pickers, and tinkering around in the garage.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife, Donna; children: Todd (Cherie Carlton) Skinner, Troy (Sally) Skinner, Tracy Skinner, Terry (Cindy) Papineau, Tim (Wendy) Leeck, Marvin (Brandi Ripka) Leeck, and Michelle (Jon) Blasius; brothers: Dan Skinner, and Rick (Jean) Skinner; many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; long-time special friend, Dan Campbell, and many other special family members and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Allen.
