Obituary of Michael Swartzinski

Age 77, of Vassar Township died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at home in Vassar. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, June 20, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Vassar. Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Michael will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Michael’s memory to Michael’s Family. Envelopes will be available at church. Mr. Swartzinski was born March 16, 1939 in Ossineke, Michigan to the late Mr. & Mrs. Joseph and Sophie (Langa) Swartzinski. He and Carol Losinski were united in marriage on September 16, 1961 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Alpena, Michigan. Michael was a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Vassar. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, cutting and splitting wood, and feeding animals and observing wildlife in his backyard. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol (Losinski) Swartzinski; daughter, Sandie and husband, Robert Leece; two sons: Daniel and wife, Ann Swartzinski, and Ricky Swartzinski; granddaughter, Brandi; three sisters: Rose Bushy, Helen and husband, Frank Detloff, and Celia and husband, Roy Anderson; two brothers: Joseph and wife, Marian Swartzinski, and Leonard Swartzinski; brother-in-law, Richard and wife, Rita Losinski; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Julius Swartzinski, sister, Regina Taylor, and sister, Loraine Werda. Friends may share a memory with the family at church.
