Obituary of Marian E. Echlin

Of Mt. Morris, age 89, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at her home. Mass of Christian burial will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Harvey will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 3, 2013, from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm. On Friday, evening family and friends will gather to pray the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the IHM Motherhouse in Monroe, Michigan. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Marian was born September 8, 1924, in Mt. Morris, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick and Rose (Cronin) Hawkshaw. She graduated from St. Michael's Catholic High School, Class of 1942. She and Arnold Echlin were united in marriage September 25, 1943. During World War II she worked production at AC. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris since 1964. She volunteered at the American Red Cross, she was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, she belonged to Legion of Mary, Emmanuel Prayer Group and Women's AGlow Prayer Group. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, canning, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She also belong to a Euchre Club for over 40 years. Left to cherish her memory are, five children, Thomas Echlin, M. Carol Murphy, Daniel Echlin and wife, Betty, Michael Echlin and wife, Jennifer and Donald Echlin and wife, Twinkle; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and brother, John Hawkshaw and wife, Angie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; sister, Margaret Police; and brother, Robert Hawkshaw.
