Obituary of Lorna Banks

Age 85, of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted Living of Flint. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Our Savior Lutheran Church at 10:00 am. Pastor Joe Cottom to officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Genesee Twp. on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Saturday morning, Lorna will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lorna’s memory to Our Savior Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and at church. Lorna was born March 24, 1931, in Saginaw, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Oswald and Florence (Knoll) Geyer. Growing up in Frankenmuth, she helped with her family’s farm. Lorna worked for local grocery stores as a food distributor, handing out samples. She enjoyed singing in the choir at Our Savior Lutheran Church, and euchre at the Moose Lodge in Birch Run. Lorna also enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, and cheering for the Detroit Tigers. Left to cherish her memory are: her four children: David Attenberger, Dan Attenberger, Mark and wife Carol Attenberger, and Judy and husband, Gary Plyler; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Doris Gadd; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frank Attenberger in 1966; recent husband, Clyde Banks in 2004; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Attenberger. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home or at church.
