Obituary of Hazel Johnson

Age 91, of Mt. Morris, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at Concerned Country Care of Montrose. A funeral service will take place on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Mt. Morris. Pastor Jim Salo to officiate with burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Friday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hazel’s memory to Hurley Children’s Fund. Hazel was born February 1, 1925 in Canada to the late Mr. & Mrs. Gordon and Olive Strickert. In her spare time, Hazel enjoyed cooking, baking, growing flowers, crocheting, and knitting. She also loved wearing hats and everything Mother Nature has to offer. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Alan and wife, Patricia Johnson, Ryan and wife, Rita Johnson, and Beth and husband, Frank Sorensen; six grandchildren: Dustan, Reid, Drew, Corey, Troy, and Jeremy; eight great-grandchildren: Ashley, Madison, Myla, Austin, Adrianna, Anniston, Chase, and Kash; great great-grandson, Brendon; sister, Katie Matthews. Hazel was preceded in death by Earl Johnson; two sons: Jerry and Craig Johnson; grandson, Justin Miles; two brothers: Melvin and Elmer Strickert.
