Obituary of Anne C. Engelhardt

Age 84, formerly of Vassar and Evart, Michigan, died on March 21, at Laurel Lake Retirement Community’s Crown Center, surrounded by her family.
Anne was born in Flint on March 5, 1932 to Lewis and Marjorie Vincent. Anne married Carl Engelhardt on May 6, 1953. The couple had three sons and resided in Vassar. Anne was actively involved in her sons’ activities. She instilled in each of them a love for wonder and adventure. Camping was a favorite family activity. The family designed and built a “cabin” on the banks of the Muskegon River in Evart where Anne resided after the death of her husband, Carl. Prior to her retirement Anne worked in the accounting department for Agrico Chemical in Saginaw. Anne enjoyed history, archeology and anthropology, travelling to Africa, Asia, Europe and South America for study.
A life-long member of the Lutheran Church, Anne also volunteered and contributed to Humane Shelters and many other causes.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Engelhardt; father, Lewis Vincent; mother, Marjorie (Stringer) Vincent; sisters, Bertha Braden and Florence Hecht; niece, Linda Hintz; nephews, George Hecht and Patrick Lacey; and aunt, Evelyn Vincent. Surviving relatives include sons, Dwight Engelhardt of Key West, FL., Martin (Tamara) Engelhardt of Hudson, OH, and Mike (Emerson) Engelhardt of Sunnyvale, CA; grand-daughter, Kathryn Engelhardt, M.D. of Charleston, SC; sister, Lois Vincent; nieces, Barbara Swinton, Cindy Kaunitz, Earlene Diamond, Deborah Leeper, Robin Featherston, Carrie Stoever and Tracie Fournier.
Friends may call 11 am to 1 pm at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Saturday, March 26, 2016 with a memorial service at the funeral home immediately following. Interment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens following the service.
