Obituary of Dorothy Pearl Drier

Dorothy Pearl Drier, age 81, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, March 18, 2016 at Pines of Burton. The funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Dorothy’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Pastor Aaron Burton will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Mt. Morris Community Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dorothy was born September 9, 1934, in Flint, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John and Mary (Sharp) Russell. She attended the Genesee School District until 10th grade; graduating from Kearsley High School, Class of 1952. She married Clarence “Tony” Drier at the Genesee Methodist Church on October 10, 1953. Sadly, he preceded her in death on January 27, 1987. She worked production at AC Spark Plug in Flint for many years until her retirement in 1985. In her free time, Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, watching sports, and doing yard work. She was an active longtime member of the Mt. Morris Community Church. Left to cherish her memory, two sons: Curtis (Mary) Drier, and Mark (Kathy) Drier; six grandchildren: Stacey (Matt) Schlieger, Jeffrey Drier, Kellie (Dan) Thorpe, Matt (Kristen) Drier, Tony (Sarah) Drier, Kristen (Tony) Ellis; three great-grandchildren: Jacob, Joshua, and Anna; her sister, Joyce Stone; and many other family members and church friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence “Tony”, and her sister Norma Jean Otto. Dorothy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at the Pines of Burton for the loving care they gave.
