James W. Pastoor, Jr. age 68, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, March 4, 2016. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. James’ family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Monday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or to the Lupus Foundation of America. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
James was born June 14, 1947, in Flint. He was the son of Walter and Arlene (Dennis) Knaus. James graduated from Atherton High School; Class of 1965. He continued his education, studying chemistry, biology and mathematics at Mott Community College. He worked at Kroger Grocery Store in Mt. Morris for 15 years, until retiring on March 16, 2015. In his free time, James enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching NASCAR, racing at Auto City Speedway, gardening, shooting pool and drinking Mt. Dew.
Left to cherish his memory, girlfriend of 38 years, Gloria Wade; four children: Lisa Pastoor, Cory and wife, Helen Wade, Cindy and husband, Ken Whitworth, and Karrie and husband, Valentin Soto; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; special friends, Gordie Craine and Jeff Saumier.
James was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Arlene, daughter Tammy, and mother-in-law Ella Mae Kontnik.
