Obituary of Douglas Ashe

Age 72, died Monday, February 29, 2016, at Genesee Care Center in Grand Blanc. The funeral service will take place on Friday, March 4, 2016, at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Mt. Morris. Pastor Kevin Dixon to officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Douglas’ family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, and again from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm; on Friday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Douglas’ memory to First Baptist Church-Mt. Morris. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Douglas was born September 30, 1943, in Flint, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd and Elsie Ashe. He was employed by General Motors, Powertrain Plant #5 as a machine repairman from 1964 until his retirement in 2006. In Douglas’ spare time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Steven and wife, Kelly Ashe, Laurie and husband, Gary Bishoff, and Bryan Ashe; two grandchildren: Karmen and Emma Bishoff; three sisters: Barbara and husband, Jake LaFurgey, Mary Lee Michael, and Christine Ashe; and good friend, Bill Jones. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Allen Michael. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff on the hospice wing at Genesee Care Center.
